Position Location: ThermTech
Position Hours: FULLTIME
1st shift - Monday - Friday 6 AM - 2:30 PM with some overtime.

Job Description: The Plant Quality Control Manager has the responsibility for the
division’s quality functions including the maintenance of the hold area and non-conforming
material. The Manager manages the quality control team to ensure accurate and
timely quality inspection and documentation. The Quality Control Manager
manages and administrates customer concerns, corrective actions, and generates
management of change documentation. The Manager performs job audits to ensure
regulatory and specification requirements. Cross train into the Production
Controller Position to be able to provide coverage during absences. Must achieve 6 Sigma Black Belt certification.
Be willing and able to shift hours each Quarter to be present on second and third
shifts.
Responsibilities:
Hold Area and Non-Conformance Management
- Review
the hold area daily to resolve any hold order issues and required customer
contact
- Perform referee test where required.
- Perform
root cause investigation using a team approach.
- Perform
containment review and coordinate containment response plans.
- Contact
customers where required to address quality issues.
- Generate
necessary reworks.
Customer Concern and Corrective Action Management
- Attend
Weekly Concern Meeting and report issues.
- Manage
division’s customer concerns and take the lead contacting for customer to
address concerns and resolve issues.
- Elevate
customer concerns to corrective action as necessary.
- Coordinate
credits with accounting.
- Manage
the corrective action system.
- Champion
continual improvement and coordinate with the rest of the team utilizing 6Sigma
black belt principles to improve division performance.
- Perform
effective root cause analysis to identify the core issues.
- Generate
corrective and preventative actions based on:
o
Nonconformance and Concern data.
o
Manage supplier corrective action
requests.
- Administrate
the management of change system through generating the required
re-trainings/notifications to support procedure and process revisions and
issuance.
- Organize
the records by employee to provide clear documentation of training.
Quality Control Team Management
- Manage
the team of dedicated inspectors and provide training and guidance to the team.
- Capture
inspection photos as required and update processes to provide robust inspection
processes.
- Fill
in as required for absent inspectors and assist in coordinating inspection
staffing.
- Support
the division’s 6S efforts.
- Help
maintain the basic working condition of the Inspection department.
Communication
- Provide
a weekly presentation to the division at shift changes.
- Show
nonconformance and concern data addressing YTD %
- Present
the trainings and gather documentation that the team acknowledges they
understand Process/Procedure/Training changes.
Equipment Quality Support
- The
Plant Quality Control Manager is liaison for the Equipment Quality for testing
equipment and must understand the Equipment Quality function to provide the
necessary support to ensure quality equipment functions as designed.
- Perform
basic hardness tester troubleshooting.
- Perform
containment activities when a furnace or hardness tester has an issue
necessitating review.
Job Launch
- Provide
Job Launch support to ensure work orders meet the customer requirements.
- Verify
inspection method and practices are suitable and improve instructions where
required with photos or diagrams.
- Relay
to the team any risks, develop reactions where applicable.
- Communicate
any extreme inputs that Quoting or Technical Directors may need to be effective
Quality System Management
- Understand
ThermTech’s Quality System and be able to navigate the system to understand the
requirements.
- Review
Instructions issued by the Technical Director to ensure they align with the
Quality System.
- Participate
in Annual Quality Manual Review.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY FOR POSITION:
All hires are contingent upon a 9-panel hair follicle drug test & background check.
Education:
College Degree or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of three years of quality control or heat-treating experience.
A thorough understanding of the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring processes.
Experience in training and developing employees.
Skills:
Ability to function well within a high performing team and as a team
leader and team member. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Effective relationship management. Display critical evaluation skill. The
ability to be a servant leader.
Hard Skills:
