Position Hours: FULLTIME
1st shift - Monday - Friday 6 AM - 2:30 PM with some overtime.

Job Description: The Production Controller is responsible for scheduling departmental work and allocating resources to ensure an efficient and effective product flow. The Production Controller must be an exceptional servant leader. Communicates lead time and turnaround to Customer Service and key customer accounts. Ensure the training and development of all department employees. Maintain safety standards and manage 6S standards within the facility. The Production Controller is a working supervisor position that expects to ensure work is correctly built, loads are correctly combined, and production personnel is supported as necessary.

Responsibilities:

Employee Development

  • The Production Controller must understand and support training, coaching, and disciplinary actions for all team members and understand the training system and time clock systems.
  • The Production Controller must participate in Leadership Development and team-building activities.
  • Responsible for entering any safety concerns and maintenance issues discussed during meetings and discovered by employees.
  • Communicate and train personnel regarding process changes during shift meetings to ensure personnel are informed of new or changed processes.

Workflow

  • The production controller is responsible for developing and accurately maintaining the production furnace schedules, ensuring furnace loads are appropriately combined and loads created to ensure a continuous workflow.
  • Directs all departmental employees on day-to-day activities and ensures furnaces run per process and pull on time.
  • Responsible for managing the incoming area and developing a plan to expedite work effectively and efficiently.
  • Responsible for recording downtime accurately and generating corrective action to address negative trends.
  • Responsible for ensuring that jobs that will be late are communicated to Customer Service and the customer to maintain exceptional customer relationships.
  • Manages the turnaround metrics, promises, and default delivery dates.

Process Monitoring

  • The Production Controller performs real-time monitoring of furnace charts to ensure conformance with work order requirements and ensures all employees complete daily furnace check sheets.
  • Ensures all equipment is operating correctly and secures assistance to rectify the condition.
  • Assists operators in monitoring and correcting issues.

Communication

  • The Production Controller must and contribute to the weekly departmental maintenance meeting, weekly quality meeting, and 6S meeting.
  • The Production Controller should have outward facing contact with critical divisional accounts.
  • Must chair and contribute to the daily inter-shift production meetings.

Manage 6S

  • The plant controller allocates resources to maintain work areas and the basic working conditions of the facility and equipment.
  • Performs a daily walk-around assessment of plant condition and sources of damage and takes the appropriate actions to correct.
  • Determines and manages the daily, weekly, and monthly 6S cleaning schedules.
  • Ensures all employees, including themselves, meet or exceed the 6S requirements of the facility.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY FOR POSITION:

All hires are contingent upon a 9-panel hair follicle drug test & background check.

Education:

College Degree or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

· A minimum of three years of heat-treating experience. A thorough understanding of the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring processes. Experience in training and developing employees.
