Position Location: 16875 W Ryerson Rd, New Berlin, WI 53151
Position Hours: Primarily 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM (Monday - Friday)
Position Wage: $20.00 - $25.00/HR
Salaries are based on several factors, including the skills and experience of the candidates. It is common to be hired at the lower to middle end of a salary range and while it is possible to be hired at the higher end, it often requires unique circumstances, such as proven expertise.

Position Summary: The Shipping Specialist keeps the plant’s material flow moving smoothly and accurately. You will follow established schedules and procedures, maintain precise documentation, manage inventory of shipping supplies, and serve as the primary liaison with internal teams, customers, and carriers.
Core Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving Operations
- Verify that packaging is suitable, then pack, seal, label, and affix postage as needed.
- Examine shipment contents and compare them with manifests, invoices, or orders to confirm accuracy.
- Load and unload trucks (including FedEx/UPS small parcels) and route materials internally using hand trucks, conveyors, or sorting bins.
- Weigh each order, record weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, and tag all incoming and outgoing items in real time.
- Maintain hold and transfer areas, coordinating transfers promptly and ensuring the plant stays organized, clean, and safe.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare work orders, bills of landing, shipping orders, and packing slips; correctly complete all required paperwork for each shipment.
- Record shipment data for reporting, accounting, and record‑keeping purposes.
- Compute space, shipping, storage, and demurrage charges using the computer or price lists.
Inventory & Supply Management
- Request and store shipping materials and supplies to keep inventory stocked.
- Acquire and maintain forklift certification; operate forklifts safely when needed.
Logistics Planning
- Determine appropriate shipping methods, routes, and rates for each load.
Customer & Carrier Coordination
- Contact carrier representatives to arrange pickups, issue shipping instructions, and resolve delivery issues.
- Confer or correspond with internal representatives and customers to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, or non‑conformance to specifications.

Minimum Requirements
Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of but are not limited to the following:
- Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods in a non-climate controlled industrial environment
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
- Capable of lifting and carrying at least 25-pound objects throughout shift
- Must be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
- Must demonstrate the ability to perform fundamental mathematical skills and concepts (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, and the basics of algebra and geometry).
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
Required Hard Skills
- Proficiency with QMS/MES (Bluestreak) and Microsoft Office (Outlook).
- Strong understanding of ThermTech’s quality policy.
