Position Location: 304 Travis Ln, Waukesha, WI 53189 with travel to other ThermTech locations in Waukesha and New Berlin
Position Hours: Primarily 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; however, the position requires frequent second and third shift coverage. Self-direction in setting the schedule to meet position needs is expected.
Position Wage: $31 - $35 per hour
Salaries are based on a number of factors, including the skills and experience of the candidates. It is common to be hired at the lower to middle end of a salary range and while it is possible to be hired at the higher end, it often requires unique circumstances, such as proven expertise.

Job Description:
Summary:
The Training Control Technician is responsible for the delivery, maintenance, and recordkeeping of all training activities as assigned by Training Assurance. Estimated division of responsibilities is one-quarter recordkeeping and digital control, one-quarter document/procedure support and development (including candidate’s own cross-training), and one-half face-to-face training and engagement with ThermTech employees.
Job Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Delivery and Execution of Training Programs:
- Present or demonstrate pre-established training content to a specific list of affected employees. These will include a combination of in-person presentations led by the candidate and hands-on demonstration of various activities. ThermTech values in-person, face-to-face, and hands-on training exercises instead of passive content. This position must champion and execute this value
- Some training programs will have designated trainers. This position is responsible for monitoring those trainers and activities
- Some training programs will be delivered and executed solely by this position
- Deliver pre-established hands-on competency exams, drills, written/verbal tests and similar forms of demonstrated competency to all affected employees. Programs determine pass/fail criteria for skills and tasks required at all levels of the organization.
- Maintain training quality standards required from programs. Repeat training exercises until competency is achieved.
- Delivery of programs extends to all employees from all shifts. Shift flexibility will be required to fulfil this responsibility.
Maintain Digital Records of Training Activities and Qualifications:
- Utilize ThermTech’s internal ERP system (Bluestreak) to generate, track, and record training activities
- Regularly audit designated trainers’ activities for on-time completion and documentation quality. Communicate corrective actions to insufficient records, and follow up with designated trainers where required.
- Program digital qualifications for activities upon completion of training programs, and disqualify qualifications if failures or expirations occur.
Maintain Continual Self-Development Towards a Culture of Learning:
- Support ThermTech’s mission to provide a Culture of Learning by means of a combination of soft-skills rooted in Servant Leadership along with hard-skills developed through hands-on experience
- Lead by example by continually learning new skills, abilities, and systems, and translating these experiences into new training programs and/or delivery methods
- Dedicated time in a wide range of disciplines is expected to develop and maintain familiarity with equipment and procedures, and fortify relationships with all ThermTech employees/trainees
- The initial months of employment will be focused on experiencing several roles at ThermTech to develop the foundation necessary for the Training Control Technician position.
Generate and Execute Short-Term Retraining and Management of Change (MoC)
Requests:
- When requested by internal customers or Training Assurance, generate training content, deliver training content, perform/assign hands-on demonstration, and/or evaluate competency exams for retraining or MoCs.
- Serve as a primary liaison between internal departments and Training Assurance to execute these tasks.
Assist Training Assurance in Generating Training Content and Work Instructions:
- Work instructions, training processes, media content, competency exams, and similar content are required for most training programs. Assist Training Assurance in gathering data, media, and generating some work instructions towards these efforts.
- An above-average competency with Microsoft products (Word, Powerpoint, etc), and similar software is required for this position.
- Professional written communication skills are mandatory for this position.
- Formal writing, creative design, or similar education or experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with video or similar digital media production and editing software is an excellent addition, but not required.
- Requested software or similar production tools will be encouraged and supported by ThermTech.
Weekly Training Meetings:
- Attend and participate in weekly training meetings with management teams from various internal departments. Meeting is lead by Training Assurance.
- Assist in reviewing training requests, priorities, and concerns. Provide feedback from the perspective of Training Control.
- Provide feedback and improvements where programs are ineffective globally, situationally, or with an individual employees.
Maintain Professional Ethics, Discretion, and Principles of Servant Leadership:
- The Training Control Technician will engage with virtually all employees at all levels of ThermTech, and will have influence over the entire organization’s image and culture. Therefore, representing exemplary professional and personal ethics as outlined in the employee handbook, honor code, quality policy, and all similar explicit and culturally implicit standards are required for this position.
- Maintain discretion and sound judgement while engaging with a wide variety of employees from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- When applicable, attend and participate in on-site leadership, mentorship, and similar professional development programs.

Minimum Requirements:
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, a non-resident, authorized to work in the U.S. without ThermTech sponsorship). ThermTech does not sponsor visas, either at time of hire or at any later time.
- This position must satisfy ITAR (DSP-5) compliance requirements; therefore, candidates must be a lawful permanent resident [8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20)] or a protected individual [8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)]. Employment of Foreign Persons(s) [22 CFR 120.63] will be contingent on receiving the DSP-5 license from the US State Department.
- All hires are contingent upon a 9-panel hair follicle drug test & background check.
- May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
- May be required to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification
Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of but are not limited to the following:- Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods in a non-climate controlled industrial environment
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
- Capable of lifting and carrying at least 25-pound objects throughout shift
- Must be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
- Must demonstrate the ability to perform fundamental mathematical skills and concepts (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, and the basics of algebra and geometry).
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Advanced degree in one of the following or similar fields preferred:
- Engineering
- Education
- Human Resources, Leadership or similar discipline
- Business/ Management
- Communications, Technical Writing, etc.
Experience:
- Equivalent or similarly relevant experiences not listed here will be considered in place of those listed above, where appropriate.
- A minimum of two years of training and developing employees.
- A minimum of four years of demonstrated independence and self-direction in a professional role.
- A minimum of four years in an industrial setting.
